Many of you have asked and have been wondering how to choose the Best Hair for Crochet Braids.   We have done our research and will give you the five tips for finding the best hair for your crochet braids hairstyle. Before we jump into our tips…if you have other tips beyond the ones we share feel free to leave those in the comments section below. Here we go.

Top 5 Tips for Finding the Best Hair for Crochet Braids:

Tip #1: You want to find a crochet hair that closely resembles human hair as possible.  What we mean is that some crochet hair is too plastic/synthetic looking to the point that it does not easily flow.  Even when just out of the packet you need hair that moves and sways just as if it was real hair growing off of your head.  Unfortunately, this may be risky because most times you have to purchase the product before opening.

Tip #2: You want hair that does not easily tangle and frizz.  Hair that tangles and frizzes will make you go bunkers.  Hair that does this will frustrate you within a week or so depending on how much the hair experiences friction.  The hair you choose should allow for you to touch it and style it without getting your fingers stuck or clumping up.  Try to see if the beauty supply store you visit have any hair on display so that you can see the hair up close.

Tip #3: We recommend a hair that have deep twist in them so that the strands are better unified and do not easily tangle.  Deep twist type of crochet braids are easier to maintain and manipulate. If you are able to spend a little bit more money you will want to choose this type of crochet hair because it has the waves you want without the pain of tangling.

Tip #4: Be sure to choose crochet hair that compliments your skin complexion.  We know this tip is debatable. This tip is based on your preference and what style you are looking to go for.  If you want a color hair that makes it seem more natural then you will want to get near a mirror or have a second opinion.  When you go to the beauty supply store you need to lift the package close to your hair and see if the colors are close enough.  Be sure to get in the light. If you have someone with you be vulnerable to ask them their opinion. However, if you are looking to rock a gray or reddish braid then have at it!

Tip #5: Check to see if the crochet braid you are choosing is easy to install.  This is an important tip because some crochet hair is too thick and will make it difficult to slide up under your cornrow braids.  Depending on the size and pattern of your cornrow braids the crochet hair will be hard to install. The flip side of of choosing hair too thick is choosing hair that is too thin.  Crochet hair that is too thin can make it harder to grasp to install. Also the thinning out of the hair can make installing hair more time consuming.
